Today, we decided to go to the market in San Telmo and connect with Nadine (a friend Beki and Scott met in Mendoza during a wine tasting). We took the train to San Telmo where we planned to meet Nadine. As we walked down the street we had quite a surprise that appeared on the sidewalk in front of us. Since I am not certain who might read this lets just say that it was a 2' plastic part of the male anatomy!!! Yes, imagine our surprise. We don't know where it came from, but we both just kept on walking to the next block where we both looked at another and said, "was that what I think it was?" It was hard to believe. By the time we thought to grab a camera a man who was walking in the opposite direction from us picked it up and placed it in the trash. Only in Buenos Aires.
After the laugh, we realized that Nadine was actually in Palermo near Beki's apartment, so we reached her and decided to locate the place I would be taking my bicycle tour from on Monday. We went through a two block section of the market to see what it was about then turned down Peru street. As I started to take some photographs and locate the address, we were squirted by someone with something that appeared to be white glue or lotion. In some parts of the city they do this to distract you and steal items from you. Since we were both aware of this practice we kept walking, when we stopped to clean up we turned around and did not see anyone on the street. Fortunately, we were not robbed.
Next stop for us was Cafe Rivas where we met Nadine for lunch. We had a nice meal and then decided to head back to the apartment to let Beki rest. She has a cold that she has been fighting. The evening was very quiet and just spent time getting photos and blogs updated. Tomorrow is the bicycle tour of the city which I am looking forward to. Hope to have more pictures to post. In the meantime here is a link to my current images:
